第29章 静而止闹 淡而消窘

Motionlessness can calm down disturbance while plainness can avoid embarrassment.

泼妇之啼哭怒骂，伎俩要亦无多，唯静而镇之，则自止矣。谗人之簸弄挑唆，情形虽若甚迫，苟淡而置之，是自消矣。

今文解译

泼妇啼哭怒骂，无理取闹，可以玩的把戏也就这些。只要不予理会，她就会自知无趣，停止哭闹了。

搬弄是非的人造谣中伤，挑拨离间，情形着实令人难堪。但如能泰然处之，谣言也就不攻自破了。

English Translation

Wanton tricks of a shrew,such as crying and cursing,are few,if any;so long as you keep her down by doing nothing,she will stop her wildness herself.

Discord brought about by the slanderous might be really embarrassing;but if you handle it with perfect composure the discord will subside itself.
